Shanghai Subway Line 2

Metro Line 2 is the most important subway line for travelers as it connects both Shanghai airports to the city center. It runs east-west across the city from Pudong International Airport (PVG) to Hongqiao Airport Terminal 2 (SHA T2).

- First train: ~5:30 AM from terminal stations
- Last train: ~22:30 from terminal stations
- Fare: RMB 3–9 depending on distance
- Pudong Airport to People’s Square: ~65 minutes, RMB 7
- Hongqiao Airport to People’s Square: ~35 minutes, RMB 4
Important Notes
- Line 2 requires a transfer at Guanglan Road for trains going to/from Pudong Airport (not all trains run the full route).
- Avoid rush hours (7:30–9:00 AM, 5:00–7:00 PM) if you have heavy luggage.
- Shanghai Public Transportation Card (RMB 20 deposit) works on all metro lines.
